Managing competencies
Who is this article for?Users responsible for user management.
Person Manage Job Roles permissions are required.
Competencies can be assigned to users in multiple ways, including the user record. Competencies are a standardised way of tracking learning progress and are comprised of requirements that need to be met.
This article shows you where you can assign competencies directly.
1. Adding competencies
To add a competency:
- Access the People module.
- Select People.
- Open a user record.
- Switch to the Training Plan tab.
- Click Edit (Pencil icon).
- Click Add Competency.
- Enter a Competency Title.
- Select expected Competency Level.
- Set a Target Date.
- Enter a Description.
- Add Requirements.
- Click OK.
2. Adding requirements
Competencies are made up of requirements that need to be met before the competency can be achieved.
To add a requirement:
- Edit a competency.
- Click Add Requirement.
- Name the Requirement.
- Select an Associate Event if relevant.
- Set a Target Date.
- Add a Comment.
- Click OK.
3. Deleting competencies
To delete a competency:
- Tick the competency.
- Click Delete Competency.
This will bring up a confirmation pane.
- Click OK.
4. Completing competencies
To mark a competency as achieved, follow our guide to recording completed Training.

- Click Delete Competency.
