How to Install the Ideagen Quality Management Application Server

This article outlines the steps to extract and install the Ideagen Quality Management application server. After these steps have been performed you will need to continue installing the additional server components.
This article is split into the following sections:
1. Install the Application Server
These steps should be performed on the server that will host the Ideagen Quality Management application. Please ensure that the prerequisites have been installed before proceeding.
Are you performing a re-installation of the Ideagen Quality Management server? If you are re-installing the Ideagen Quality Management server in order to resolve an issue then please uncheck Install Ideagen Quality Management Server Database. The installer will instead ask you for the details to connect to your existing database.
- Browse to the Server installation folder and run the setup.exe.
- Review and accept the License Agreement, then click [Next].
- Check both Ideagen Quality Management Server Application Server and Ideagen Quality Management Server Database.
Notes:
- The option to install the Ideagen Quality Management Database will be unavailable if you are trying to install the database to a remote server and you do not have SQL Distributed Management Objects on this server.
- Only uncheck Hide Advanced Options if the Ideagen Quality Management Data Portal is:
- To be installed to a non-default (c:\Inetpub\wwwroot\QPulseDataPortal) location.
- To be installed to a new website rather than the IIS default web site.
- To use a non-standard port (the default port is 80).
- Click [Next] to continue with the installation.
- Enter the name or the Server name or IP address of the Database Server that will host the Ideagen Quality Management database (including the instance name) and then select your connection method.
- Click [Next].
- Enter a strong password for the application user.
- On the next page you will be asked to enter the link to your Ideagen Quality Management Identity Server URL. Although you haven’t installed this yet, the link will be found in the following format:
http://<servername>qpulseidentityserver
Notes:
- The application user is a SQL user account that is used by the application service to communicate with the database. This user cannot be used to log in to the Ideagen Quality Management client.
- This password MUST be strong, Microsoft guidelines for strong passwords can be found at http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms143705.aspx. This password will be validated against these rules on pressing ‘Next’.
- Click [Next] and follow the on-screen instructions.
- Once the installation completes you will be prompted to install the Ideagen Quality Management Web Service APIs. The APIs are only required if you intend to use the Ideagen Quality Management Docs or Reporting apps for mobile applications. Please refer to the API Installation Manual for steps on how to perform this installation. Please note that the Ideagen Quality Management server service will not automatically start after the install. Please ensure that you start this service in Services before trying to connect a client.
- Follow the instructions and click [Finish].
2. Start the Service
- Press the Windows key + R.
- Type services.msc.
- Click OK.
- Browse for the Ideagen Quality Management Server service.
- Right click on the service and select Start.
