Creating user accounts in bulk using Excel
Who is this article for?Administrators responsible for user management.
Administration module access is required.
You can create multiple user accounts with ease using a premade Excel file template available to download from the Windows Client. This file must be formatted correctly with the required information to create the users and assign the required permissions.
This article walks you through the process of importing user accounts using this method.
1. Downloading template
To download the template:
- Access the Administration module.
- Select People (under Security).
- Click Import.
- Select the From Excel file... option.
- Enter a location in Export Path.
Leave the other field blank. - Click Template.
You will see a pop up indicating that the download to the specified file path was successful.
2. Updating template
To update the template:
- Browse to the Export Path location.
- Open the file.
- Enter the following details:
- First Name - First name of the user.
- Last Name - Last name of the user.
- User Name - System username you would like to assign to the user.
- User Principal Name - UPN assigned to this user in your SSO Provider. If you do not intend to use SSO authentication, you can leave this blank.
- Email - Email address of the user.
- Department - Department of the user.
- Licence Type - Assigned licence type, Primary or Secondary.
- Groups - Security groups you want the user to be a member of, separated by a comma.
- Default Groups -TRUE or FALSE to assign the default group access as defined in the Administration module.
- Click Save.
You can now import the file back into the system.
3. Importing template
To import the template:
- Access the Administration module.
- Select People (under Security).
- Click Import.
- Select the From Excel file... option.
- Enter a location in Import Path.
Leave the other field blank. - Review the details.
- Click Validate.
- Review the Status and Error Description columns.
- Click Import.
