How to Create a Finding Type
Who is this article for?Audit Managers responsible for managing the Audit module.
Audit Manager group membership is needed.
Finding types can be created to categorise the findings raised on an audit.
This article provide details on how to create and configure a finding type but it does not go into detail on how to perform an Audit or raise findings. For information on raising findings on an audit please see How to Raise an Audit Finding.
This article is split into three sections:
1. Create a New Finding Type
To create an audit type from scratch:
- Log in to Ideagen Home and launch Ideagen Quality Management Essentials to access the Audit module.
- Expand Audits and select Finding types.
- Click Create.
- Enter the required information:

- Title: The name of your audit type.
- Description: A clear and concise description of the type.
- Click Save.
Tip: If you're still working on configuring your audit module then consider leaving the Active checkbox unticked. This will allow you to continue working on configuring the module without the risk that an auditor will use it to raising findings before you are ready for them to do so. You can return to this area later and activate the type when you are ready to go live.
2. Change Finding Type Details
To change finding type details:
- Log in to Ideagen Home and launch Ideagen Quality Management Essentials to access the Audit module.
- Expand Audits and select Finding types.
- Open your finding type.
- Apply any changes.
- Click Save.
Reminder: Inactive finding types will be hidden from the list. Click the Show inactive box to see audit types that have not been activated.
