How To Install the Microsoft Office Plugin

The Ideagen Quality Management upgrade files are required.
Ideagen Quality Management includes a plugin for Microsoft Word. This plugin allows you to add document attributes directly from the Ideagen Quality Management record, save documents directly into Ideagen Quality Management and control printing of Ideagen Quality Management documents.
The plugin needs to be installed on the end user PC in order for the tags and functionality to work. This article outlines the steps necessary to install and configure the Microsoft Office Plugin. 1. Minimum Requirements
The Ideagen Quality Management Office plugin supports:
- Word 2010 (32-bit and 64-bit versions)
- Word 2013 (32-bit and 64-bit versions)
- Word 2016 (32-bit and 64-bit versions)
2. How to Install Visual Basic for Applications
In order to run the Word plugin you must first have visual basic for applications installed on the client PC. To do this:
- Browse Control Panel and the 'Programs and Features'
- Locate Microsoft Word or Microsoft Office
- Right-click on it and select 'Change'.
- Browse 'Add/Remove Features.
- Expand 'Office Shared Features' and the choose to install Visual Basic for Applications
Note: Visual Studio 2010 Tools for Offline Runtime are required in order for the Microsoft Office Plugin to function. If this isn't installed, the installer will automatically connect to Microsoft and download the required tools, or it can be downloaded form here.
3. How to Install the Microsoft Office Plugin
- Open the Ideagen Quality Management installation files.
- Browse to the Office Plugin folder.
- Run the 'Setup.exe'.
- When prompted, agree to the licence agreement and click 'OK'.
- Enter the IP address of your Ideagen Quality Management application server.
- Click 'Test Connection' to check if Ideagen Quality Management server is valid
- Click 'Next' and follow on-screen instructions
When you launch Microsoft Word, you will notice the Ideagen Quality Management ribbon added.
Notes:
- The Microsoft Office Plugin can be disabled via the Microsoft word Options in the Trust Centre. However, access to the Trust Centre can be disabled via group policy.
- When launching attachments via Ideagen Quality Management Web or Document Retrieval Service (DRS), Microsoft Word will open attachments in Protected Mode and so the Microsoft Office Plugin will be disabled by default. To prevent this from happening, the Ideagen Quality Management Web and DRS should be added to Internet Explorer's Trusted Websites.
