How to Configure the Archived User Workload Calculation
Who is this article for?IT Personnel planning an upgrade to the latest version of Ideagen Quality Management 7.
The Ideagen Quality Management upgrade files are required.
Ideagen Quality Management includes a workload metric for the Administrator. This displays a metric for any archived users who still have responsibilities (e.g. a CA/PA action to complete) within the system. The total number of actions will be displayed on the Administration module on the launchpad and will serve as a link to open to the Advanced Workload module to review the actions.
The purpose of this workload is to allow the Administrator to re-assign the responsibilities in order to ensure all actions are performed.
An additional service must be scheduled in order to enable this calculation and this article includes the steps to setup the service. To make this process easier to follow the article has been split into 3 sections:

1. Important Considerations Before Configuration
Before scheduling archived user working calculation consider the following:
- First Run Server Resources: This process is may take some time depending on the number of users that have been archived and is reasonably resource intensive on the first time you use it. The initial run will have to review all workload actions for all users and if you have been using Ideagen Quality Management for a while then this will mean a longer review.
- Ongoing Server Recourses: Although the impact will be less if the service is run regularly this will still place an impact on over server resourcing. As a result it is recommended you run this during low-use periods.
- Ideagen Quality Management Licensing: The service will be run as the default 'admin' account, meaning that users will have 1 less primary license available for use when the service is running. If you have a limited number of licensees this is something to consider.
2. How to Schedule Archived User Workload Calculation
- On the application server, launch the Task Scheduler
- On the Actions pane, click on Create Basic Task...
- When the wizard starts, enter a name of this scheduled task. E.g. ‘Ideagen Quality Management archived user workload calculation’. You may also wish to enter a description of the task at this time.
- Click Next.
- Click the Trigger for this task. You can decide which trigger to use based on your requirements. For the archived workload calculation it is recommended to run this on a daily basis as the workload associated with archived users will not change until this task is executed.
- Select the Start date and time.
- Click Next.
- Select the task you wish this task to perform. In this case select Start a Program.
- Click Next.
- Click Browse and then navigate to the Ideagen Quality Management Server directory. By default, this is:

- 64bit Windows: C:\Program Files (x86)\Gael Ltd\Q-Pulse Server
Note: If you have upgraded your Ideagen Quality Management System from an older version your Server Directory may be listed as Ideagen Quality Management 5 Server.
- Select the QPulseArchivalWorkload.exe
- Within the ‘Add arguments’ box, add “-d “ then the display name of the database as named in the DBConnections.xml. e.g. “-d Default” or “-d Live”
- Click Next.
- A summary will now be presented. Ensure the checkbox titled ‘Open the Properties dialog for this task when I click finish’. Check the details are correct and if correct, select Finish.
- Click the General tab and under ‘Security Options” ensure a user who has network permissions to run a scheduled task is entered. If not, select Change User or Group and enter a user who has permissions.
- Click OK when all details have been entered and are correct.
- You can confirm the scheduled task has been created by selecting Task Scheduler Library. The task you have just created should appear in this list along with any other tasks which have been configured. If you need to make changes in the future, you can do so in here.
