Assigning secondary user licenses
Who is this article for?Administrators responsible for managing user access.
Administrator module access is required.
To help you manage users effectively, we offer two types of licences - primary and secondary. Primary licences are most commonly used for users who will be managing and administering an area of the product, and the secondary licences are for users who will be completing actions within the records.
This article explains how to manage secondary licences within your system.
1. Understanding secondary licences
Secondary licences can be assigned to users within the system. Unlike primary licence users, who can potentially have all permissions available to them, secondary licence users may only have access to the secondary functionality of the system.
You can learn more about secondary licences, including dependencies, in our overview of secondary licences.
2. Assigning secondary licences
To assign a secondary licence:
- Open the Administration module.
- Select Security.
- Choose People.
- Look up the user you want to assign it to.
- Click Edit (Pencil icon) in the user row.
- Tick Assign a 'Secondary' user licence when available.
- Click Save (Tick icon).
To revert the secondary licence to a primary licence, untick the box and save the record.
