Who is this article for?Administratorsresponsible for managing users.
Administration module access is required.
There are three supported authentication types (or methods) you can use to authenticate users accessing your system.
This article explains how each type works and where to select your preferred one.
1. Available authentication types
Quality Management (Professional) supports three authentication types.
Ideagen Quality Management requires the user to log in using their username and password. These credentials are unique to Ideagen Quality Management.
Windows Automatic associates the Ideagen Quality Management username with a Windows common name. This authentication type will log the user in automatically if their Windows account is associated with a Ideagen Quality Management account.
Windows Prompted associates the Ideagen Quality Management username with a Windows common name. This authentication type will ask the user to enter their Windows credentials, which Ideagen Quality Management will then confirm with Active Directory. If the username and password are correct, the user will be logged in as the Ideagen Quality Management user associated with this Windows account. .
Using one of the Windows authentication types?
Although you may be using Windows Automatic or Windows Prompted authentication, users will always have an Ideagen Quality Management username and password.
These credentials will only be required under certain circumstances, for example if password expiry is enabled.
