What are the Differences Between Static and Dynamic Groups?

The Administrator has the ability to manage security through groups. These permissions can be applied to users in three ways:
- Directly to the user account.
- Through static groups.
- Through dynamic groups.
Successful management of security can ensure that your data is protected against unauthorized access and modification.
This is achieved through the management of security groups. The difference between static and dynamic security groups are outlined below.

1. Differences Between Static and Dynamic Groups

| How Users are Added |
Users can be added to these groups and receive all the assigned permissions for all records. |
Permissions for these groups are assigned to users only when the users name has been specified to a certain role in a record. |

Group names often describe the module they belong to (e.g. Audit (Full Access), CA/PA Administrator). |
Group name often describe the names of certain roles within Ideagen Quality Management (e.g. CA/PA Owner, Lead Auditor). |

Creation |
You can create as many new groups as you like and edit their permissions. |
You cannot create new groups as each group is linked to a field in a record where a user's name can be selected. You can edit the permissions of existing groups. |

Usage |
Used when a group of users require the same permissions for a specific task. |
Used to restrict users to only viewing records where they have been explicitly named. |
