Sorting Date/Time Data on a Ideagen Quality Management report
In the “Field list” you may see the same field listed multiple times. Each of these has a different icon to identify the data type the data will be returned in. These are as follows:
| Icon | Type | Details |
| Number | Data will be returned in a number format. Any sort applied will be a numeric sort (e.g. 1, 2, 3). Date fields that have this type will be sorted based on the first two digits only. | |
| Text | All data displayed is in text format. Any sort applied will be a text sort. | |
| Boolean | Data is either a yes or no (e.g. a check box). | |
| Date/Time | A date/time format which will sort data using a calendar sort based on year, month and day. |
To apply a date sort on a collection:
- In the Report Designer, click on the detail band that you would like to sort.
- Click the [>] button (outlined in red above).
- Click the [...] icon beside the Sort Fields field of the "Detail Tasks" to open the Collection editor.
- Click the [ADD] button to add a member to this list. In this screen, please ensure the field select is of a Date/Time type.
- Under the "Properties" section, specify the field that you wish to be sorted on (e.g. in this example, this report is sorted by Number) and also the sort order.
- Click [OK] and save your report.
- The collection of data should now be sorted by the selected column.
