Importing users from the active directory
Who is this article for?
Administrators who import users from Active Directory (AD) into Ideagen Quality Management (Q‑Pulse) and finalise user records.
Administration and people permissions are required.
When you import users from Active Directory, Ideagen Quality Management Professional (IQMP) creates their user records with basic identity details. Job titles and any additional information are not imported and must be added manually in IQMP
1. Import users from the active directory
- Open Administration select Security click on People.
- Select Import and click on Active Directory and complete the wizard to create user records.
- Verify the new users appear in the People list.
2. Add job titles (manual)
Job titles are not carried over from AD and must be added in the Administration area:
- Open Administration → People.
- Search and open the user’s record.
- Set the Job Title field to the appropriate title and Save.
Tip: Use a standard list of job titles to keep reporting and role matrices consistent across your organisation.
3. Capture extra details with User‑defined fields (manual)
If you need to store additional information (e.g., location, certification ID, cost centre), use User‑defined fields in the People module:
- Open the user’s record in People.
- Navigate to Actions and click on View/Edit Properties.
- Locate the User‑defined fields section.
- Enter the required values and Save.
Note: User‑defined fields let you capture structured data that isn’t part of the standard user profile. Keep the set small and well‑named so it’s easy to search and report on.
4. Verification
- Open the user in Administration → People and confirm the Job Title is populated.
- Open the user in People and confirm any User‑defined fields are filled in correctly.
5. Troubleshooting
- Job Title missing: Edit the user in Administration → People and set the field manually.
- Need more data points: Use User‑defined fields in the People module to store the extra attributes you require.
- User not found after import: Check your AD selection/filters and rerun the import with the correct scope.
