Configuring admin mode and full mode
Who is this article for?
Administrators who want to learn how to configure the admin and full modes.
Access to the Ideagen Quality Management application server configuration is required.
With the v7.8 release, Ideagen Quality Management (IQM) introduced a "Web first" user experience, moving high-frequency user journeys to the Web client. The Windows (Desktop) client is now reserved for infrequent, high-level administrative tasks and is referred to as the Admin Console.
To support this, the system can be configured to run in one of two modes: Full Mode or Admin Mode.
Important: This is a server-side configuration and is not a toggle that individual users can switch in their client. The mode is set on the application server and affects all users.
This article explains the difference between these two modes and how they are configured.
1. Understanding the modes
The mode is set on the application server and affects all users. The Admin Console and its settings are only accessible via the Windows (Desktop) client.
1.1. Full mode (default)
This is the standard operating mode for the system. In this mode, users can access all modules (both Web and Windows client) as permitted by their security permissions.
1.2. Admin mode (restricted)
This mode is designed for system maintenance or configuration updates.
- When enabled, it hides all features and modules except the Administration module.
- Users will only be able to access the Administration module via the Windows (Desktop) client. Access to all other modules is disabled.
1.3. Web client
The Admin Console and its settings (including Admin Mode and Full Mode) are high-level administrative functions that are only accessible through the Windows (Desktop) client. This functionality is not available in the Web client.
2. Configuring the mode
This setting is a central, server-side configuration and is not an option available to individual users within the client interface.
- Enabling or disabling Admin Mode must be done on the Q-Pulse application server.
- Disabling Admin Mode automatically enables Full Mode.
Note: Please contact Ideagen Support for assistance with enabling or disabling this feature on your application server.
