No special access or permissions are required.
Ideagen Quality Management 7.8.1 is a product update that includes several feature enhancements and fixes, focusing on feature parity and security enhancements.
1. Features
Postgres database and AWS S3 compatibility
This feature is available for hosted environments only.
Support for Postgres database and AWS S3 attachment storage was first introduced in version 7.7.1.0 (excluding version 7.8). Starting from this version, and in all subsequent releases, the majority of product features now support this.
New features introduced in version 7.8 are now compatible with PostgreSQL databases and AWS S3 attachment storage. However, this compatibility does not extend to features related to Windows AD authentication.
Feature parity
Email report functionality
The ability to send reports via email - only available in the Windows client - now been introduced in the Web client.
Users can generate and email reports in supported formats directly from the Web interface, streamlining workflows. Whether it's a PDF, CSV, or image format, simply click the new ‘Send Email’ button located next to ‘Export To’ in any print-enabled screen.
This makes it easier than ever to share reports without switching platforms.
Reminder and Escalation Locate Record
This functionality enables user to access the Web Client Reminder Escalation (Count).
Users now have access to both Win and Web Reminder Escalation (Count) Locate Record for the following modules:
- CA/PA
- Audit
- Documents
- Assets
- Occurrences
- Incidents
Password protection
As part of our ongoing effort to align the Web client with the capabilities of the Windows client, version 7.8.1 introduces key enhancements to improve document security and usability:
-
View password-protected Documents
Users can now view any password-protected documents (Example - PDF, PowerPoint, Document, etc.) directly within the Documents ‘Viewer’ tab in the Web Client. This enhancement allows secure access to confidential content without the need to download files or leave the current interface.
Once a password-protected document has been unlocked in the Viewer tab, the user can navigate to other tabs within the document record and return to the Viewer tab without needing to unlock the document again.
However, if the document record is placed in ‘Edit’ mode, the user will be prompted to enter the password again to unlock the document. -
Password Protection for ‘Send Email’ and ‘Save As’ functionalities (applicable for PDFs
only)
The ‘Send Email’ and ‘Save As’ functionalities for PDF files now include password protection options. This ensures that sensitive documents can be securely saved or shared via email, helping to prevent unauthorized access or editing.
The Password Protection feature can be enabled or disabled for the ‘Save As’ and ‘Send Email’ buttons for selected Document Types in Document Security Options of the Administration module.
Performance improvement on PDF conversion
In version 7.8.0, the Documents module in the Web client was enhanced to include the PDF conversion functionality, aligning it with key features available in the Windows client. This enabled the users to convert the supported file formats to PDF directly from the Web interface.
However, some performance issues causing slowness were observed with the PDF conversion feature after its initial release.
In this version, the performance of PDF file conversion functionality has been optimized, delivering faster and more efficient Document generation for an enhanced user experience.
PDF reversion to original file format
Converted PDF files can now be reverted back to their original file format in the Web client, aligning with the functionality already supported in the Windows client.
This applies to the following document lifecycle actions in the Web Client:
- Revert to Draft – when reverting from Draft Approved status
- Revise to New Draft Revision – when revising from Active status
- Withdraw Draft from Approval – when withdrawing from Draft status
- All Approvers Removed After Submission for Approval
Notification rebranding
The rebranding that was rolled out in version 7.4 has now been streamlined to apply to Notifications.
This covers the product name change from Q-Pulse to "Ideagen Quality Management", and styling that respects Ideagen Corporate Branding guidelines.
The changes applied to the following areas:
- Messaging
- Reminder and Escalation
- Email Digest
Moving forward, existing customers migrating to Postgres and new customers will see an updated sender email for all notifications from the product.

3. Known issues
Below is a list of identified issues that we are looking to resolve with future updates.
Viewing password-protected attachments in the Web client
In the single attachment scenario, if a password-protected document is closed in the Viewer tab without entering the password, the password prompt will not reappear upon returning to the Viewer, even after navigating away and back.
As a workaround, refresh the page to trigger the password prompt again.
In the multiple attachment scenario, an additional workaround is available. Navigate to a different attachment and then return to the original one to trigger the password prompt.
(Web) Intermittent error when exporting a PDF attachment
An intermittent error occurs when attempting to export a PDF attachment using the 'Save As' or 'Send Email' feature after submitting a draft for approval while the Document record is in Edit mode.
4. Limitations
Below is a list of limitations that are important to be aware of before raising an issue.
Uploading password-protected Word documents with Wordtags
When uploading a password-protected Word document that contains Wordtags, PDF conversion will fail.
This is expected behavior, as secure documents are intentionally excluded from conversion for security reasons. additionally, there is a system limitation where Wordtags will not display any data in such Documents.
