This article addresses the issue where the field label “Preventative action only?” is truncated in the Desktop client, while it displays correctly in the Web client. It will guide the reader through understanding the cause and resolving the issue.
1. Issue
When executing the validation protocol step on the Desktop client, the field label “Preventative action only?” in the Additional Properties window is truncated and appears as “reventative action only?”.
This issue is not observed in the Web client, where the full label displays correctly. Resizing the window only expands the entry fields, not the label area.
The root cause is a display formatting limitation in the Desktop client, introduced after enhancements in version 7.7 of the CA/PA module. These enhancements improved performance but affected how field labels are rendered.
2. Resolution
To resolve this issue, follow these steps:
- Understand the limitation: The Desktop client has a restricted label display area that cannot accommodate long field names.
- Modify the field label:
- Navigate to:
Administration > Customisation > Customer Field - Search for the field (e.g., User Defined 1).
- Edit the field label to reduce the character count to fewer than 20 characters.
- Save the changes.
- Navigate to:
- Verify the fix:
- Reopen the Desktop client and check the Additional Properties window.
- Confirm that the label now displays correctly.
Note: This is a UI display issue, not a data integrity problem. The Web client continues to show the full label correctly.
