Enabling the 'Close as Standard' option for Occurrences
Who is this article for?
Administrators who are responsible for configuring the Incident and Occurrence modules.
Administrator permissions are required to create and manage Standard Events.
1. Issue
In the Occurrence Reporting module, the option to "Close as Standard" provides a streamlined way to resolve common, predefined events.
However, this button is often not visible by default if the system hasn't been configured to use it. If the "Close as Standard" button is missing for all users, it indicates that a setup step is required.
2. Resolution
To enable the 'Close as Standard' option, you need to configure the relevant managed list in the Administration module. This allows you to define the specific standard event types your organization will use.
2.1. Accessing managed lists
First, you'll need to navigate to the managed lists section.
- Open the Administration module.
- Select Customisation.
- Choose Managed Lists.
- You can filter the view to display lists for the Occurrence Module, which helps navigate large lists more easily.
2.2. Configuring the standard event list
Now, you'll add your organization's standard events to the list.
- Within the managed lists, search for a list related to 'Standard Event' or 'Standard Occurrence'.
- Select the relevant list (e.g., 'Standard Event Type' or similar) and click Edit.
- Add new entries to this list to define the specific 'Standard Events' your organization wishes to use (e.g., "Turbulence", "SETES Standard Event").
- Click OK to save the changes.
Tip: Once you have defined your 'Standard Events' within the managed list, users with the appropriate permissions will be able to select these predefined events when reviewing an Occurrence. This makes the "Accept as Standard" option available, allowing for the efficient resolution of common events without requiring further investigation.
Tip: To get the most benefit from this feature, consider evaluating the types of occurrences that frequently happen in your organization. This analysis can help you define the most impactful "Standard Events," maximizing efficiency and allowing your teams to focus on more complex, non-standard incidents.
