Ideagen Quality Management: Professional 7.8 release notes
Who is this article for?
Administrators considering implementation of Ideagen Quality Management 7.8.
No special access or permissions are required.
Ideagen Quality Management 7.8 is a product update that includes several feature enhancements and fixes, primarily focusing on supporting your transition to the Web experience.
1. Features
Admin Console
The Ideagen Quality Management roadmap is primarily driven by a Web first user experience and as such we are moving away from the need for a Windows client for those high frequency user journeys.
This release delivers those outstanding features across the modules in our Web client.
Remaining areas of set up, config, and identified infrequent admin activities management such as Report Designer are present in a simplified Admin Console.
You can toggle between two settings:
- Full mode - All existing features available (Web and Desktop)
- Admin mode - Only administrative features visible (Desktop)
For the toggle option to switch between Admin Mode and Full Mode this is a feature that needs to be configured on Application server.
This feature is particularly useful when you want to restrict users to only the Administration module, for example, during system maintenance or configuration updates.
Extended language support
We have introduced localisation support for additional languages:
- Danish
- Dutch
- Flemish
- Norwegian
- Slovak
- Swedish
These are available for all modules. In addition, all existing languages are now available in the following modules:
- Customer
- Supplier
- People
- Training
Enhanced audit functionality
We have extended SSO support to the Audit Log Viewer, allowing authentication through the following identity providers:
- Microsoft Entra
- Okta
- PingOne
Authentication settings configured by administrators will now be automatically reflected in the Audit Log Viewer.
Enhanced SSO providers support
We now support multiple SSO configurations within the same domain, enabling distinct SSO setups for each database.
This is available for:
- Web client
- Windows client
- DRS
- Web Reporting
- Audit Log Viewer
This enhancement provides you with greater flexibility, allowing your organisation to customise configurations to suit your operational needs across multiple databases.
Enhanced Web dashboards
We have introduced key enhancements to the Dashboard, designed to streamline workflows, enhance data accessibility, and improve the overall user experience:
- Export function
- Occurrence Data Source integration
- Pre-configured dashboards (New installs only)
These updates aim to make navigating and utilising the Dashboard more intuitive and effective for all users.
Improved authentication token security
We have introduced short-lived tokens to enhance security by reducing the risk of unauthorised access if a token is compromised. Once expired, the token becomes invalid and unusable for authentication.
Additionally, a new endpoint, AuthenticateServerIntegrationSSO, has been introduced for server-to-server integration, incorporating authentication token expiry validation to strengthen security.
This enhancement strengthens the overall security of the authentication framework.
Enhanced web services endpoints
We enhanced several web services endpoints to include additional parameters in their responses.
The affected endpoints are:
- UpsertSupplier endpoint now includes contact information in the response.
- GetAvailableModuleList endpoint has been added to provide information about modules by database
Usability improvements in Web
We have added the option for users to update their passwords in the Web interface.
This is for native authentication only.
Continued feature parity in Web
Audit module
To enhance the user experience within the Audit module, we have introduced features that allow the management of the Question Bank and creation of checklist questions from the Question Bank
Users with the necessary permissions can create new question or edit existing ones to keep them current.
Documents module
To improve the user experience within the Documents module, we have added PDF conversion functionality to the interface.
People and Training modules
To continue feature alignment, we have introduced several key Training and People module enhancements:
- Capture Training and People module tasks in Workload
- Print reports
- Create new Reference Groups within the People module
- Update Custom Labels for fields
- Review matrices
- Master Job Role review
- Master Competency review
These additions will bring the Web experience closer to that of the Windows client, providing a more consistent and seamless user experience across platforms
