Upcoming changes to the Ideagen Quality Management: Professional mobile app
Who is this article for?Users who access the IQMP mobile app on iOS devices.
No elevated access or permissions are required.
As part of Ideagen Quality Management: Professional rebranding activity, our iOS mobile app is undergoing a change in the Apple Store that requires a new version of the app.
The current app (2.6.1) will be removed from the app store as of 23 April 2025, replaced with a new version (2.6.2) listed under Ideagen Limited. This requires action on your part to download the new app.
This article aims to answer the most likely questions about this change, and recommended setup steps to make the transition as seamless as possible for our users.
1. Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
My organization deploys the app via MDM. What does this change mean?
Please see the setup recommendations below.
Does it affect the Android app?
No, only the iOS version is affected.
When will change take place?
23 April 2025.
How will change appear on the App store?
Once the change is made, the new version of the app will be available in the app store, and the old version will be taken down:
- Current app (v2.6.1) will be removed from the App store on 23 April 2025.
- New app (v2.6.2) will appear under the Ideagen brand on 23 April 2025.
There might be a very brief period where the two versions (current and new) of the app will be available in the Apple App store. We will try to minimise this period as far as possible to avoid confusion.
Are there any changes to mobile functionality?
No, all functionality remains as is.
What preparation do I need for the change?
We recommend letting your users know about the change.
There is no in-app notification to notify current users, so it's important you make your users aware.
Can I continue to use the old app?
The old app will continue to work on devices but cannot be installed for new users (there is no conflict in how old and new versions would work together within an organisation).
However, no further updates will be made to the old version, so it's strongly recommended that all users switch to the new version to continue receiving important app updates, including bug fixes, new features, and safety updates.
What happens to work in progress/records stored in the old app?
Any work in progress cannot be migrated to the new app.
It must be uploaded or submitted in the old app. On installing the new app, all required data must be resynced to the device (Audits, Documents, Report templates, etc.).
Can I keep both the old and new versions on my device?
There is no conflict in how old and new versions would work together within an organisation.
However, we recommended uninstalling the old version of the app once you have installed and logged into the new version.
How is the new version different from the old version?
There is no difference, other than the app’s developer will be listed as Ideagen Limited, rather than Gael Ltd.
Only the version number will be different.
This can be seen on the splash screen during login and sync, and can also be found on the Settings page:
- Current app (v2.6.1)
- New app (v2.6.2)
How do I install the new app version?
Please refer to the recommended process steps below.
Will there be any downtime on the old version as part of this change?
There won’t be any downtime.
The old version of the app will be available until we deploy the new version.
2. Switching to new app
2.1. Regular organisations
To switch to the new app:
- Complete and upload any work in progress/offline tasks to the main application.
- Make a note of your Core and OfflineAuditServer URLs.
You will need them to log in to the new app. To find them, tap the Cog icon on the login page. - Download the new app, listed under Ideagen Ltd.
- Sign in using your system credentials and URLs noted in the previous steps.
You must be online for your first login to succeed. -
Reset any preferences.
Allow a few minutes for this process to complete, as you will need to resync all your offline data to the new app. - Uninstall the old app (v2.6.1 or earlier).
2.2. MDM organisations
We strongly recommend that you advise your users of your planned switchover date and time with sufficient notice, so they can ensure any in-progress work is complete prior to removing their access to the current app.
Otherwise, in-progress work may be lost.
To switch to the new app:
- Create a new application.
If your company has the app distributed as an 'iOS store application', you will need to configure a new application when v2.6.2 is available on the iOS stores. It will then need to be managed in the same way as the previous application. - Create a new configuration policy.
If you have an app configuration policy in place, where the following are specified:
-
-
Device enrolment: Managed devices
-
Platform: iOS/iPadOS
-
Targeted app: Ideagen Quality Management (where the type is iOS store app)
-
-
Since the application cannot be edited, a new configuration policy will be required. This must target the newly released application published by Ideagen (not Gael), with your remaining configuration set as required.
- Disable the old configuration policy.
You can do this by deleting the configuration policy completely or edit the configuration policy and remove any assigned groups (recommended).
To automatically remove the old app:
- Edit the assignment for the original Gael application.
- Required: Remove all groups/users/devices.
- Available for enrolled devices: Remove all groups/users.
- Add the desired group/user/devices you wish to remove the application from.
This will require users to have an active connection in order to take effect.
For both types of installation, this should remove the application from the device automatically without the user being informed/notified. Data loss may occur if the user is not aware this will happen.
