Adding and removing fields from messages
Who is this article for?Administrators responsible for configuring reports.
Administration module access is required.
Report Designer gives you the tools to easily add and remove fields from reports, allowing you to tailor messages to users within your organisation.
This article outlines the steps required to manage these fields in version 7.3 or above.
1. Adding fields
1.1. From field list
To add a field from the picklist:
- Access the Administration module.
- Select Customisation.
- Choose Messaging.
- Click the Edit button of the email you want to add fields to.
This will open Report Designer.
- Click the Data button in the right panel.
- Drag and drop any required fields onto the canvas.
Making major changes?
It may be better to add your fields to a table!
1.2. From labels
To add a field manually:
- Open the email you want to add fields to.
- Drag and drop an XRLabel onto the report canvas.
- Highlight the label.
- Click the Cog button in the right panel.
- Select the Data Binding field.
- Specify the data field.
- Open the Options menu.
- Click Save
2. Removing fields
To remove a field:
- Edit your message.
- Highlight the field you want to remove.
- Press the Delete key on your keyboard.
- Open the Options menu.
- Click Save

- Right-click the email you want to add fields to.
- Click Edit.
- Click Edit... (next to Message body).
This will open Report Designer.
- Drag and drop the field from the list.
- Click Save and Close.

1.2. From labels
To add a field manually:
- Open the email you want to add fields to.
- Browse to the Toolbox.
- Drag and drop a label.
- Highlight the label.
- Click the Chevron icon to open the label.
- Expand Data Binding.
- Select the field you need to link the label to.
- Click Save & Close.
2. Removing fields
To remove a field:
- Edit your message.
- Select the field you want to remove.
- Press Delete on your keyboard.
- Click Save & Close.
