Configuring user lockout

User lockout is a, optional security feature that can be purchased to enhance your system security. It allows you to define a number of failed password attempts that will be accepted before the account becomes locked, and is needed to meet the criteria of Code of Federal Regulations, Title 21 (CFR21 Part 11).
This article shows you where to configure the lockout.
1. Understanding user lockout
Automatic lockout is an additional feature that must be purchased, and is activated through your Ideagen Quality Management license file.
When lockout is enabled, the end user will have a specific number of attempts to enter their password., either during the initial log in or when completing an electronic signature.
2. Activating user lockout
To enable user lockout:
- Open the Administration module.
- Select Security.
- Choose Settings and Defaults.
- Switch to the Authentication tab.
- Click Edit (Pencil icon).
- Scroll down to Lockout.
- Tick Enable Lockout.
- Set value for Maximum consecutive login failures.
- Click Edit Message... to customise the lockout pop up.
- Confirm message with OK.
- Click Save (Tick icon).

Once an account is locked, it will need to be unlocked so that it can be used again. You should consider the availability of your Administrators when setting the number of login failures. This value can always be increased or decreased as needed.
